How to Add Privacy Protection to a Domain Name

Domain registration information identifies the holder and provides a way to contact them. Depending on the extension, registrant category and applicable rules, some information may be withheld from public lookup services. Privacy options and account security serve different purposes.

Check what is already protected

Before adding a paid option, check the information currently published and any protection already included. For a .CA domain registered under an eligible individual category, CIRA provides free protection of personal information in its WHOIS. Different rules may apply to a business or another extension.

A privacy service does not make the holder anonymous in every circumstance or remove the need to keep accurate details with the provider. Maintain an accessible contact address for renewal and verification notices.

Review the options in your Nuagerie account

  1. Open your Client Area from a known address.
  2. Locate the relevant domain and open its management options.
  3. Review the privacy or information-protection options available for that extension, where offered.
  4. Before confirming an order, check its scope, price and renewal terms. If no option is displayed, ask our team to check rather than assuming that it is needed or unavailable.

Protect access and renewal as well

Use a unique password, any additional account verification offered and a transfer lock where appropriate. Check the expiry date and renewal arrangements too. Keeping contact information private does not, on its own, prevent unauthorized access to the account.

Choose useful protection with Nuagerie

Your domain carries your business identity and can support both your website and email. Our team can help review the options for your extension and the dependencies to preserve during a transfer. State the domain and your goal in your request: limiting exposure of contact details, organizing a transfer or protecting everyday management.

To register or transfer a domain, discuss your project with Nuagerie. You can bring domain, DNS, hosting and email requirements into the same conversation.
